The Path of the Heart
Easter Retreat
with Rob Van Willegen and Bridget Mallon
Friday 18 April, 7.30pm to Monday 21 April, 1pm
We are the very heart of compassion. This is something we can come to embody by training our heart and mind. For anyone wishing to discover their good heart and live their life in a meaningful way, The Path of the Heart offers the tools you may be looking for.
Building on the foundation of loving kindness for ourselves, in this retreat we explore how an unbiased love and compassion for all can gradually take centre stage in our lives.
Tibetan Buddhism invites us to arouse a vast, compassionate motivation and train our mind and heart accordingly. We are not only encouraged to open our hearts to the suffering of others (compassion), but also to develop our understanding of the way things ultimately are (wisdom).
These two aspects, compassion and wisdom, come together in a natural state of being awake, tender and genuine. The Tibetan term that indicates the aspiration of this natural state is Bodhicitta, or the heart of the awakened mind. Bodhicitta then, is the topic of this retreat.
This retreat consists of:
- Instruction on the topic
- Guided contemplation
- Sharing in small groups
- Guided Meditation
- Time to relax and enjoy the natural environment
While based on the Buddhist tradition, the universal truths and skilful methods shared in this retreat can help to open the heart and bring warmth to our everyday lives.
Location
The retreat will be held in our newly opened Temple, which is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.
