Dzogchen Beara is home to a spiritual community (sangha) of dedicated students who uphold the practice lineage held by Rigpa. These practitioners form the heart of the centre’s daily spiritual life. More about the practices we do

Responsibilities of the Practising Sangha

The Practising Sangha leads the daily schedule of prayers and practices attended by the wider community each morning and evening. They ensure that all prayer requests are honoured, with names read aloud during the sessions.

These practices are undertaken by those who have committed to this spiritual path, have a solid grounding in Tibetan Buddhism, and have received the necessary initiations from qualified lamas. Members train for many years in chanting and ritual. For these reasons, the practices are not open to the general public.

Offerings and Daily Support

The Practising Sangha also cares for the butterlamp offerings each day, supported by our dedicated work-exchange volunteers who help clean and refill the lamps.

Members of the Practising Sangha live onsite at Dzogchen Beara and are provided accommodation, meals, food supplies and other necessities, with a modest monthly allowance.

Sponsor a practitioner

Caring for our community of lay practitioners at Dzogchen Beara —who uphold our main spiritual practices and traditions—is one of our main responsibilities. Their health, well-being and support are vital for the life and activities of our centre.

If you feel inspired to support the practice community, you can sponsor a practitioner. Your sponsorship enables us to support a buddhist practitioner to live at Dzogchen Beara and dedicate their time to prayer and upholding the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of practice as held by Rigpa. As is traditional, prayers of dedication for all sponsors will be included in daily practice.

It costs €1000 a month to support an individual practitioner. Any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated, whether a once off donation or setting up a standing order to provide longer term support.
