Our accommodation can fill up fast, especially on events, so here is a selection of alternative local accommodation.

Shared self-catering kitchen and living room space. Shared bathroom and shower facilities.  All bed linen is supplied, guests are requested to bring their own towels. If staying in the dormitory we would advise to please bring ear plugs. Check-in Time:   4pm to 8pm     Check–out Time: 11am

The Hostel is well sign-posted, a small team of volunteers reside in the hostel and there will be someone there to welcome you on arrival.

Our hostel has WIFI. Dzogchen Beara is a “screen break” friendly zone, but if you need to check that email or look something up, we’ve got you covered!

Cottage Accommodation

Each cottage has a shared self catering kitchen and shared bathroom facilities.  Bed linen and towels are provided for guests. There are wood burning stoves in each cottage and a starter fire pack is provided.

A member of our Accommodation team will be in contact on your arrival to arrange your check-in. Check-in Time:   4pm to 8pm. Check–out Time: 11am

Spiritual Care Centre Accommodation

All rooms are ensuite and each room has tea making facilities. Bed linen and towels are provided for guests. There is also a large shared self-catering kitchen and living space area.  Breakfast is included as part of the accommodation fee.

A member of our Accommodation team will be in contact either at event registration or in advance of your arrival to arrange your check in. Check-in between 3pm and 4pm. Check out 11am. Late arrivals are welcome once we know in advance.

Camping and Camper-vans

Unfortunately camping is not possible at Dzogchen Beara. Overnight staying in our carpark is also not allowed. Find out about nearest options here.

Dzogchen Beara is located in a rugged area and weather conditions are variable. For your comfort, please bring warm clothes, including a waterproof coat and sturdy footwear. A warm wrap and socks are useful to have for the shrine room. In winter a torch is helpful. Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended during the summer months.

Dzogchen Beara is situated on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, on the south-west coast of Ireland. The nearest town is Castletownbere, 7km. The nearest city is Cork, 130km. Our Eircode is P75 C670. For further travel advice see here.

From Castletownbere to Dzogchen Beara

Bus: Route 232 Route 232

Cost: Single Adult ticket costs €3

There is now a new bus route (Route 232) that will drop you at the driveway to Dzogchen Beara. The route will operate 4 daily return services, 7 days a week. You can take this 15 minute bus ride from Castletownbere (Fire Station) and ask the driver to let you off at Dzogchen Beara. After you get off the bus there is a short 10 minutes walk to the Centre.

Vegetarian lunches and light evening meals are provided as part of your event booking fee.

Breakfast is provided for guests staying in our Spiritual Care Centre. Guests staying in the hostel and cottages are self-catering and breakfast is not provided. Please note our café opens at 10am.

Wi-Fi is available in all our accommodation and in our café for guests.  However, many of our guests have expressed the wish to avail of the peace that Dzogchen Beara offers as a place of reflection and retreat, and so use the opportunity to take a complete break from technology. We ask guests to keep the use of all electronic devices to a minimum and as non-intrusive on other guests as possible.

The coverage for mobile phones can vary depending on which provider you use, but there is coverage for all networks in the carpark.

All hostel and cottage guests and visitors are requested to park in our main car park.

Spiritual Care Centre guests only may avail of the Spiritual Care Centre car park as space is limited.

Please note that there are currently no Electric Car Charging Points available at Dzogchen Beara. The nearest charging point is in Castletownbere, approximately 10km away.

We do not allow overnight stays in our car park whether in tents or camper-vans etc.

Dzogchen Beara is strictly a non-smoking site, you may only smoke/vape in the main car park in the designated smoking area.

The closest petrol stations, shops and supermarkets are in Castletownbere, approximately 10 kms from Dzogchen Beara.
