Where to park

Blue parking signs direct you to the parking lot.

There are no Electric Car Charging Points at Dzogchen Beara. The nearest charging point is 15 minutes drive away in Castletownbere.

Please note: Camper-vans are not permitted to park overnight.

What to bring

Dzogchen Beara is located in a rugged area with variable weather.

  • Warm clothes, a waterproof coat and sturdy footwear are always good to bring.
  • For retreats: a wrap, socks and a water bottle are useful.
  • For retreats: wear shoes that are easy to put on and take off and bring inside slippers or socks.
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended during the summer months.

Things to do

Relax in the cafe, walk in the gardens and clifftop meadows, visit the temple and silent meditation garden, sit and do your own spiritual practice, circumambulate a stupa, light butter lamps.

Come to Guided Meditation seven days a week and guided Loving Kindness from Monday to Friday.

Most retreats are open to everyone and run from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime.

What to eat

The café opens at 9.30am and serves coffees, teas and treats, light lunches, cakes and more, with an ocean-view terrace. Opening hours

You are invited to join us for a delicious vegetarian lunch, served 1pm – 2pm in Centre House but you must reserve this the day before at Reception.

Guests: Continental Breakfast is provided in the Spiritual Care Centre. The hostel and cottages are self-catering and breakfast is not provided.

Retreats: Vegetarian lunch and light evening meals are included for no extra charge.

Because of allergies pets are not permitted in our accommodation. Assistance animals are welcome.

The nearest supermarket is in Castletownbere, at 15 minutes drive from Dzogchen Beara.

WiFi and phone coverage

Wi-Fi is available for guests in our accommodation and café. You are encouraged to take a break by minimising your use of electronic devices. If you do need to be online, please be sensitive to your fellow guests taking the opportunity to go off-line, and make your use of devices as unintrusive as possible.

Mobile phone coverage varies depending on the provider. Most networks are available in the carpark.

Smoking and vaping

Dzogchen Beara is strictly no-smoking.

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in the designated area in the car park.

Drones

In order to safeguard the privacy and tranquility of Dzogchen Beara residents and all of our guests, we do not allow drone flying on Dzogchen Beara property.
